Tor REJECTION!!!!!

Friday, May 7th, 2010

So it shouldn’t come as a surprise, but I was rejected from Tor/Forge.

It’s official.

Not that I had to wait a few extra months for the letter of rejection.

Enough of the one sentence paragraphs. What this really means is something that I’ve been dreading for quite some time: the re-write. It isn’t the fact that my manuscript needs revision, but more so the fact I have to sit down and re-write 68,000 words I already spent energy writing. I’ve said before that I’m pretty lazy when it comes to things that aren’t my idea and this is pretty much one of them.

Of course I don’t want to re-write my book. Who the hell wants to relive 10 months of writing a novel? This guy, evidently.

So, in the spirit of keeping my New Years resolution to get something published by the end of the year . . . Oh yeah, I made a resolution to do that and didn’t tell you guys . . . I’ve added to my count-down timers all the applicable contests/deadlines that I could possibly submit something for to give me a reason to get my act together.

It’s not easy…

Of course, who said it would be? I’m not delusional by any means.

So I got a nice email this morning from the prospective literary agent, politely informing me that she did not feel the necessary spark of connection. C’est la vie.

The search continues with Larson Pomada Literary Agents so, I’ve updated my timer to reflect the 4 week turn-around.

Arena Submission Update

Thursday, August 6th, 2009

It appears that the time for my Friday pitch has come and gone, so my rejection has come without word and quite event-less. I wonder if I should keep submitting? Ha ha.

All isn’t lost, I suppose. It’s not like they emailed me back and said, “Wow! That was the worst thing I have ever read. Perhaps you should stick with your day job because this crap made me want to rip the eyeballs out of my socket.” They’re just not interested. Which could mean any host of things.

They were looking for adult fiction, and mine blurs the line a bit with British-style humor.

My manuscript is also  a mere 68,000 words. Which is short for short stories.

Perhaps they don’t accept submissions out of country.

I’ll never know what it was. Oh well. C’est la vie. There are pleanty of other publishers in the sea.
